FORT MYERS, FLA. - Several pitchers and a few position players worked out briefly on Monday at the Lee County Sports Complex, one day before they are required to report and two days before the first official workout of 2013.

Vance Worley, Cole De Vries, P.J. Walters, Kyle Gibson,.Michael Tonkin, Alex Meyer, Casey Fien and Rich Harden were among the pitchers I noticed in the clubhouse on Monday. Several position players, including Aaron Hicks, worked out on a back field. Darin Mastroianni looks in even better shape than last year, which didn't seem possible.

Here are a few other notes as the Twins get ready to kick of 2013 spring training.

SWARZAK REMORSEFUL: Anthony Swarzak feels terrible after horsing around in a room at the Graves Hotel during TwinsFest, falling on a teammate and cracking two ribs. ``It was a stupid 15 second thing that I'm paying for the next month," he said. Swarzak's activities will be restricted for the two weeks while the ribs heal. I'll have more in the paper, but I could tell that Terry Ryan is not pleased.

TRAVELING: Cole De Vries and his parents spent Christmas in Dubai and New Year's in Amsterdam.

VISA ISSUES: Ryan said the there might be a visa issue with third baseman Deibinson Romero, who is coming to the major league camp for the first time. Romero, who has no visa problems before this season, could be a late arrival to camp.

NOT IN CAMP: Righthanders Nick Blackburn (wrist surgery) and Lester Oliveros (Tommy John surgery) face several weeks of rehab. They were minor league invites to camp this year but will remain on the minor league side this spring as they work their way back.
