A 6-year-old girl was in critical condition on Sunday after being pulled from an uncovered pool in Richfield, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Richfield police were called just before 11 a.m. to a house in the 7300 block of Garfield Avenue S., according to Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lisa Kiava.

Two neighbors led officers to an in-ground swimming pool where the girl and an 8-year-old boy were in the water. The girl had fallen in and the boy went into the water to try to help her, the Sheriff's Office said, noting that the pool was uncovered and partly filled with water.

Two police officers and the neighbors got the children, who are cousins, out of the pool. The girl was unconscious and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed. She was listed in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center. Her name was not released.

The boy wasn't hurt, Kiava said. The Sheriff's Office is investigating.
