This their first series with the Yankees this season; they play three games in New York Sept. 18-20. The Twins have not won a home series vs. the Yankees since 2008. Since then, they are 6-22 against them at the Metrodome at Target Field. … Ehire Adrianza has 10 RBI, one short of his career high of 11 set in 2015. … Eduardo Escobar is the only current Twins player to homer off Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman. … Colon has a career 6-7 record with a 5.69 ERA vs. the Yankees in 19 games.

YANKEES UPDATE

New York is entering the middle leg of a three-city, 11-game, 10-day trip. … The Yankees said either RHP Bryan Mitchell or LHP Caleb Smith will start Monday. Mitchell's lone career start vs. the Twins, in 2015, ended when he was hit in the face by an Eduardo Nunez line drive. Smith would be making his major league debut. Cessa and Montgomery have never faced the Twins. … Former Twins OF Aaron Hicks has been out for three weeks because of a strained right oblique. The 14th overall pick in 2008, Hicks had been putting everything together this year, batting .290 with 10 homers, 37 RBI and a .398 on-base percentage. … The Yankees bullpen has had its own issues. Chapman has been battling command issues, and Tyler Clippard was recently removed from his seventh-inning role.
