Gretchen Branton scored two straight goals to give the Class 2A, No. 8 Wayzata girls' hockey team a 3-2 victory in overtime over Class 1A, No. 2 Breck at the Plymouth Ice Center on Tuesday night.

The freshman forward beat Mustangs goaltender Ally Frantzick 3:36 into overtime for the game-winning goal. She sent the game to the extra session with an even-strength goal with 9:26 left in the third period. She finished the regular season with five goals in the past three games.

The Mustangs had a pair of one-goal leads and a 26-17 edge in shots on goal. Olivia Mobley got the scoring started 2:53 into the game. Carly Beniek had a power play goal with 5:48 left to give the Mustangs their other lead.

Sydney Remark got the Trojans on the board with 3:30 left in the first period to tie the score at 1-1. Stephanie Garvis stopped 24 shots for the Trojans.

Boys' hockey

St. Paul Academy 3, Holy Angels 2: Adam Zukowski scored his second goal of the game to break a 2-2 tie 2:31 into the third period to give the Spartans the victory over the host Stars.

Blaine 4, Roseville 3: Zach Buzick and Bryce Brodzinski scored two goals each to lead the Bengals past the visiting Raiders.

Boys' basketball

Learning for Leadership 69, Groves Academy 68: Kafi Abid scored with :02.2 left to lead the Mustangs comeback from 11 points down in the last 4:00 to defeat the host Griffins. The senior finished with a game-high 31 points, including 29 in the second half. Max Bilcik led the Griffins with 22 points.

Mound Park Academy 55, Blake 52: The Panthers stopped a 10-year, 105-game conference losing streak with the victory over the visiting Bears. Nick Guiang led the Panthers with 16 points. Robert Grace IV and Eli Kilpatrick led the Bears with 14 points each.
