Q: I see I've missed the boat for getting the Hanasco Sonic Electric toothbrushes on Amazon. Because I'm buying for two males, the pink won't work, and that is all that is left in stock. Is there anywhere else I can buy the black version?

A: Not only can you once again buy the Hanasco Sonic Electric toothbrush in black, but the offer is even better than it was before.

It's back in stock on Amazon, packaged with eight brush heads (rather than the standard two) and a hard travel case for only $29.99 ($39.99 with a $10 coupon applied at checkout). This is only $2 more than before, and you get six additional brush heads and a travel case. The brush heads typically last at least three months, so getting eight of them means you won't need to buy any more for at least a year if you're a couple and two years if you live alone.

If you already have a Hanasco toothbrush, a four-pack of brush heads sells for $9.95, so eight brush heads would cost about $20, plus tax and shipping. With this special package, for only $10 more, you not only get the eight brush heads, you get a case and a spare toothbrush you can give to a friend or family member. You also could keep it in reserve for traveling (when the hard case will come in handy) or use it at a second home. I know if I needed brush heads I would buy this package instead and get the extra toothbrush and case.

I was quite impressed with the case, which has a compartment for two brush heads as well as the toothbrush itself. Having just returned from a trip where I took my Hanasco toothbrush with me, I wish I would have had the case to protect it and make it easy to pack in my suitcase.

For those who missed my previous columns about sonic electric toothbrushes, I have used them for over 20 years and am a huge fan. They use sonic vibrations to clean your teeth and gums very effectively, making them feel like they were cleaned at the dentist. The difference really must be experienced to be appreciated, and once you have tried it, you won't go back.

The Philips Sonicare models are the industry standard and are indeed excellent, but the top-of-the-line, full-featured models sell for $150 to $300. The Hanasco provides similar features and excellent performance for a fraction of the price, which makes them very easy to recommend.

By the way, if you prefer the Hanasco pink toothbrush, it still is available for $29.99, but you only get two brush heads.
