Despite spending the better part of a week battling an illness, the senior pitcher admitted he felt good heading into a start against Cambridge-Isanti.
He felt good. He pitched great.
A righthander with a four-pitch repertoire, Bosacker was dominant from the outset, striking out the first 12 batters he faced.
The Bluejackets managed two groundouts to start the fifth inning, but that was the last time they put the ball in play. Bosacker fanned the final seven hitters he faced, completing a 19-strikeout perfect game in a 10-0 Magic victory.
"Going into the game, I didn't know how I would maintain my velocity throughout the game, but I felt good getting back out there," Bosacker said. "Over the years, I've had a couple of one-hitters, but I've never experienced anything like that."
Bosacker, who will join another former Monticello standout, Nick Zwack, at Xavier next year, said his penchant for thinking through the process was the key to his success.
"I grew up as a catcher, so that's helped me become knowledgeable about pitching and what to look for," he said. "For me, pitching is all a big mental game. I love being crafty."

The junior shortstop, who has verbally committed to Minnesota, could hardly have started the season better. She homered in her first four at-bats before an opponent wised up and intentionally walked her on her fifth plate appearance.

Dassel-Cokato • adapted bowling
The senior won the cognitively impaired division at the Monticello Invitational for the second consecutive season, leading the Chargers to the team title. He posted handicap-adjusted scores of 194 and 254 for a winning total of 448. His 254 game was a school record.

Eden Prairie • lacrosse
The top-ranked Eagles opened the season with convincing victories over Benilde-St. Margaret's (21-1) and Wayzata (20-2). Lewis, a senior forward, was the offensive star with nine goals on 11 shots. She also had four assists and 10 ground-ball controls.
JAELYN ORTH
Henry Sibley • softball
The junior righthander pitched three shutouts last week. In 19 innings, Orth gave up 10 hits, walked four and struck out 17. She has pitched four consecutive shutouts and 27 consecutive scoreless innings for a 0.54 ERA.
LUKE POLYAK
Hopkins • baseball
The senior outfielder proved to be a tough out during the Royals' first three games. He went 4-for-4 with three doubles in a 7-6 victory over Chaska, then had five hits in seven total at-bats in a victory over Edina and a loss to St. Louis Park.
TORI TOLLEFSON
Chanhassen • softball
The junior catcher/shortstop showed off her powerful bat in helping the Storm win two of three games. She was 6-for-13 at the plate, homered in all three games and drove in eight runs. She is hitting .467 with a slugging percentage of 1.13.
