Farmington girls' hockey coach Jon Holmes' appreciation of his senior forward appears to have reached a pinnacle.
"My admiration for Ellie is as high as it can be for any player on the ice, and off the ice she somehow finds a way to even exceed those accolades," Holmes said.
The Bemidji State recruit scored the 100th goal of her career with 57 seconds remaining, giving the Tigers a 5-4 victory over Prior Lake. It was her second goal of the game and 20th of the season.
Moser has been a 20-goal scorer each of the past three seasons. She helped the Tigers to a fifth-place finish in the Class 2A state tournament a year ago.
"She has the ability, at any moment, to demand the puck and use her physicality and speed to make the game move the way she wants it to," Holmes said. "No one outworks Ellie at practices and during training. She still, to this day, asks me to stay after practice with her to help her on the fine details of playing hockey."

Woodbury • basketball
The Davidson recruit scored 33 points, leading the Royals past crosstown rival East Ridge 69-57. It was his fifth 30-point outing of the season. "Michael's added an element to his game each offseason," Woodbury coach Kent Getzlaff said. "He's been really effective down on the block in the post this year."

Lakeville North • gymnastics
Berg turned in a personal best in the all-around competition with a score of 38.150 to take first place in the Lakeville North Invitational. She also claimed the top spot in the floor exercise with a 9.65. "She was very focused and consistent," Panthers coach Teri Homan said.
JACOB PEINE
Hastings • Alpine skiing
What a difference a year has made for the Raiders senior. Peine won the Welch Invitational with a time of 56.12 seconds for his two runs. He finished seventh in the meet a year ago, but has worked harder to improve his slalom style.
CLAIRE BUTORAC
Andover • hockey
Butorac figured in 10 of the Huskies' 11 goals in their two games last week, a 4-4 tie with Maple Grove and 7-0 victory over Elk River/Zimmerman. She had five goals and five assists. The Minnesota State Mankato recruit has 18 goals and 20 assists on the season.
JACOB TOENSING
South St. Paul • hockey
The senior goaltender is playing at the highest level of his career. He has recorded three consecutive shutouts and only has allowed three goals in his last six starts. Toensing has made 121 saves during that span.
MAE BARNES
Armstrong • Nordic skiing
Barnes won three classic/skate races in one week, including a Northwest Suburban Conference meet, the Loppet Invitational and most recently the ABC Relays at Theodore Wirth Park. The junior posted a winning time of 11 minutes, 2 seconds over the 3½-kilometer course in the ABC Relays.
