The Vikings' 7-9 season might look mediocre in the standings, but it was born of some of the greatest offensive performances in franchise history and some of the worst on defense and special teams.

THE GOOD

KIRK COUSINS' 105.0 PASSER RATING

That was the fourth-best mark in the NFL this season. The top three: 1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers, 121.5; 2. Drew Brees, Saints, 106.4; 3. Russell Wilson, Seahawks, 105.1.

It's also the fifth-best mark in Vikings franchise history. The top four: 1. Daunte Culpepper, 110.9 in 2004; 2. Cousins, 107.4 in 2019; 3. Brett Favre, 107.2 in 2009; 4. Randall Cunningham, 106.0 in 1998.

JUSTIN JEFFERSON'S 1,400 RECEIVING YARDS

That's the highest total for an NFL rookie in the Super Bowl error. 2. Anquan Boldin, Cardinals, 1,377 in 2004; 3. Randy Moss, Vikings, 1,313 in 1998.

It was also the second-highest total in the NFC this season, trailing DeAndre Hopkins of the Cardinals, who had 1,407 yards.

It's the fourth-highest total in franchise history. Not surprisingly, Randy Moss has the top three spots: 1. 1,632 in 2003; 2. 1,437 in 2000; 3. 1,413 in 1999.

DALVIN COOK'S 1,577 RUSHING YARDS

It was the second-highest total in the NFL this season, trailing only Derrick Henry of the Titans, who ran for 2,027 yards. And Cook only played in 14 games.

It was the third-highest total in franchise history, behind only Adrian Peterson's 2,097 yards in 2012 and 1,760 yards in 2008.

6,292 TOTAL YARDS OF OFFENSE

That's the third-highest total in Vikings history, behind only two Mike Tice-coached teams: 6,339 yards in 2004 and 6,294 yards in 2003.

It far surpasses any total from the Mike Zimmer era. The previous highs: 5,710 yards in 2017, 5,656 in 2019, 5,529 in 2018, 5,139 in 2015, 5,048 in 2014 and 5,041 in 2016.

430 POINTS SCORED

Only two Vikings teams had scored more points; both went to the NFC Championship Game. The 1998 team coached by Dennis Green scored 556 points and the 2009 team coached by Brad Childress scored 470.

The best marks in the Zimmer era: 407 points in 2019, 382 in 2017, 365 in 2015, 360 in 2018, 327 in 2016, 325 in 2014.

THE BAD

YANNICK NGAKOUE'S TEAM-HIGH FIVE SACKS

Ngakoue played in only six games with the Vikings before getting traded to Baltimore, but he still led the team in sacks with five. The only other players to lead the Vikings with so few sacks (since 1982) were Ben Leber in 2007 and Randy Holloway in 1984; both also had five sacks.

62 TEAM SACKS

That's the lowest total in the Zimmer era. The Vikings had 92 sacks under Zimmer in 2014, 90 in 2018, 88 in 2015, 79 in 2016, 76 in 2019 and 64 in 2017.

DAN BAILEY'S 68.2% SUCCESS RATE ON FIELD GOALS

Bailey was the NFL's least-successful kicker on field goals this season, among qualifying kickers.

DAN BAILEY'S 86% SUCCESS RATE ON EXTRA POINTS

Same as above, except replace "field goals" with "extra points."

6,292 YARDS AGAINST

It's the third-worst defensive performance in franchise history, behind the 6,362 yards Leslie Frazier's team gave up in 2013 and the 6,352 against the Les Steckel-coached Vikings in 1984.

And it's easily the most yards against the Vikings under Zimmer. The previous totals: 5,515 yards in 2014, 5,507 in 2015, 5,465 in 2019, 5,038 in 2016, 4,955 in 2018, 4,415 in 2017.

475 POINTS AGAINST

Again, the third-worst performance in franchise history, again behind the 1984 Vikings (484 points) and the 2013 Vikings (480).

And again, it is far and away the most points scored against the Vikings under Zimmer. The previous totals: 343 in 2014, 341 in 2018, 307 in 2016, 303 in 2019, 302 in 2015, 252 in 2017.
