Minneapolis-based public relations agency PadillaCRT shortened its name to Padilla as part of a company rebranding.

Padilla, one of only a few large independent communication firms in the Twin Cities, had incorporated "CRT" as part of its name since 2013 when it purchased fellow agency Virginia-based CRT/tanaka.

Before the acquisition, the agency had been referred to as Padilla Speer Beardsley.

"The name change is a natural progression for our company since so many of our employees, clients and industry partners already refer to us as Padilla," said Lynn Casey, Padilla chief executive, in a statement.

"We took advantage of the change to totally revamp our website, emphasizing the breadth of our expertise as well as our proven ability to help clients build and grow as well as protect their brands," she said.

Padilla was founded in 1961. Though it is known for its public relations experience, the firm has continued to broaden its capabilities in advertising and brand strategy along other services.

Last month, Padilla promoted veteran marketing strategist Matt Kucharski to president.

Padilla recently was selected to head Welch grape juice's consumer public and media relations and serve as the public relations agency of record for the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux, a French collective that represents nearly 6,600 wine growers and 300 merchants.
