Maybe you missed this among the crush of sports this weekend, but St. John's and St. Thomas took different paths in the NCAA Division III football tournament.

The Johnnies needs a touchdown on the final play of the game, capping a last-minute and sometimes-controversial fourth quarter drive to defeat Wisconsin-Platteville 33-32.

St. Thomas advanced to the next round with a 43-0 victory over Northwestern-Roseville, making its first appearance in postseason football. Here's the report from that game.

In men's soccer, St. Thomas trailed 2-0 with 30 minutes to play before rallying to defeat Redlands 3-2 on Sunday in Chicago. The Tommies will play Tufts in the men's soccer national semifinals on Dec. 2 in Salem, Va. Here's a report on the game and postgame interviews from St. Thomas.

In football, St. Thomas will play host to Coe College of Cedar Rapids at noon Saturday in St. Paul. St. John's will play at Wisconsin-Oshkosh at noon Saturday. If both teams win, they will meet the following Saturday, mostly in St. Paul.

St. Thomas was the NCAA Division III football runner-up in 2015.
