Details: A new addition to Ramsey's walkable downtown district, known as the COR, is teed up for this year after city officials issued final approvals for a 174-unit senior housing project.

The COR, short for the Center of Ramsey, is a 300-acre area centered around U.S. Hwy. 10 /169 and the Ramsey Northstar commuter rail station master-planned as a transit-orientated, urban development. Plans for the Affinity at Ramsey were passed unanimously by the Ramsey City Council in late February. The Inland Group of Spokane, Wash., proposed the four-story building for a vacant, 3.4-acre spot along Sunwood Drive, north of the existing Residence at the COR Apartments, which opened in 2013.

The parcel is also adjacent to the future Municipal Plaza, a 2-acre park serving as a central amenity for the COR. City officials expect the park plans to be finalized this summer as construction on the new senior apartments is underway.

Inland Group development manager Keith James told council members that work on the Affinity project is expected to take 12 to 18 months; it will feature monthly rents ranging from $1,400 for smaller units to $2,300 for two-bedroom, two-bath units. The same developer is also constructing another Affinity-branded senior housing project in Eagan, expected to open in July.
