The standard superhero movie refreshingly reinvents itself as a weighty neo-western in the stunning "Logan," out Tuesday on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD.

Hugh Jackman stars as the aging titular loner, aka the X-Men's Wolverine, who struggles with diminishing powers while slowly being poisoned by the Adamantium inside his body. On the run with him on a cross-country trek is an unlikely duo. A gifted young girl mutant (Dafne Keen) reminds Logan of his past. And his near-senile mentor, Professor X (the brilliant Patrick Stewart), portends his future. The elder companion also raises the film's saddest question: What happens when a mutant superhero with unworldly mental powers loses his mind?

Like "Mad Max: Fury Road" before it, the Blu-ray adds a black-and-white version of "Logan" that glorifies the film's gritty noir look and feels just right. Director James Mangold also provides commentary for the film and deleted scenes.
