Rosedale Center can now check "Herberger's remodeling" off its list in the mall's makeover.

Dozens of people lined up Wednesday morning for the reopening of the mall's Herberger's store, which just completed its first remodeling since its 1999 arrival at Rosedale.

"Rosedale Center is extremely proud to have a quality retail partner like Herberger's," said Scott Michaelis, general manager at Rosedale. "The extensive remodel of the Rosedale store looks incredible and is proof of Herberger's commitment to the Rosedale shopper and the community."

Enhancements include more lighting, centralized dressing rooms with more seating for friends and family, open concept cosmetics areas, and larger departments for shoes, dresses, children's and home. "We can display a lot more brands of fashion bedding in the home department now," said Michel Toussaint, store manager at the Roseville Herberger's.

In about three weeks, the children's department will add a line of toys from FAO Schwarz, which is now owned by ThreeSixty Group, which sources and distributes licensed brands to major retailers.

During a reopening promotion that continues through Tuesday, the store's cosmetics department will offer free consultations and makeup tips from Clinique, Elizabeth Arden, Estée Lauder, Fashion Fair, Lancôme and a new Clarins line.

Customers can also register for prizes that include six pairs of Vikings tickets. Herberger's is running the grand-opening sale in conjunction with its fall Goodwill sale with extra discounts for customers who bring in clothing or home textiles to donate to charity.

Rosedale's interior remodel launched in January and will be mostly completed by Thanksgiving, Michaelis said.

The addition of a wing for Von Maur will bring up to 11 new spaces filling 21,000 square feet.

The restaurant Crave, which is not included in the expansion space, will open in November in the upper level plaza in the former Flame Rotisserie Grill space, which closed in 2015.

A one-of-a-kind experiential, interactive retailer will open in early November, Michaelis said. It will be unlike anything seen at the other 'Dale centers.

Herberger's is owned by Bon Ton stores, with headquarters in Milwaukee and York, Pa. It operates 260 stores under Bon-Ton, Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson's, Elder-Beerman and Younkers banners. In the Twin Cities, Herberger's has seven locations, with eight more in outstate Minnesota.
