Four men have been charged with stealing money and drugs from a Red Lake Indian Reservation couple, fatally stabbing them and then leaving their bodies to burn in their torched home on New Year's Day 2011.
A federal indictment unsealed Monday alleges that Geshik-O-Binese Martin, 29, of Redby; Edward McCabe Robinson, 28, no known address; David John Martin, 45, of Columbia Heights, and George Allen Martin, 24, of Red Lake, participated in the murder and robbery of Craig David Roy and Darla Ann Beaulieu, both 46.
Also charged with robbery were Kevin John Needham, 20, no known address, and Terin Rene Stately, 25, of Red Lake.
All the defendants appeared in federal court Monday. George and David Martin are brothers, and Geshik-O-Binese Martin is their cousin.
The bodies of Beaulieu and Roy were found in the charred rubble of the house. Autopsies determined that they died from stab wounds.
Roy was born and raised in Red Lake. He moved in 1985 to Minneapolis, where he met Beaulieu. They returned to northern Minnesota and had three children and two grandchildren.
All four murder defendants have criminal histories in Minnesota, some of them extensive. As a group, their convictions include drug possession, assault, forgery, burglary, theft, weapons possession and fleeing authorities.
