For the past 47 years, the musically challenged have been given their chance to shine. As they do every year, the Gallivanters Irish music group hosted the World's Worst Irish Tenor contest at Mancini's in St. Paul. The event, which gives the aspiring Irish a moment in the spotlight, kicked off a week of St. Patrick's Day activities. This year's winner: Thomas Scanlon, who sang his version of "Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral." Sandra White proved a worthy challenger, undaunted before a booing crowd and reciprocating with some attitude. At right, judges Teri Rieger and Shirley Just cheered a singer.
