Nine new stores coming to MOA Amid a wide variety of exclusive store openings, shoppers will have nine new reasons to shop the Mall of America this year. Abercrombie & Fitch will debut two new stores, Gilly Hicks Sydney and Ruehl. Gilly Hicks is upscale underwear, loungewear and personal care items in an Australian theme. Ruehl goes toe to toe with Banana Republic in targeting the 22- to 35-year-old business casual customer with a West Village New York state of mind. Other stores include Geox (Italian shoes that "breathe"), Janie and Jack (upscale baby clothes from Gymboree), Lacoste apparel, Levi's, Pandora Jewelry, Papyrus paper products and Best Buy (opening late summer).
Wiggles N Giggles struggles Wiggles N Giggles, an upscale children's store in Blaine (4355 Pheasant Ridge Drive, 763-783-0250, www.wigglesngiggles.com), starts its going-out-of-business sale today. Discounts range from 10 to 70 percent on infant and toddler clothing, shoes, bedding, toys, accessories and high-end furniture from Morigeau, Ragazzi and Art for Kids. Other brands include Baby Bjorn and Gund. The company plans to maintain its online business.
Furniture store sales continue Further evidence that the furniture biz has been hit hard: Rosenthal Contemporary Furniture (22 N. 5th St., Minneapolis, 612-332-4363) is having a rare sale. Owner Rosie Rosenthal attributes the overstocked inventory to years of light-rail construction just out the front door. Save an additional 20 to 50 percent off prices already discounted 30 percent starting today through Monday. Check out the sale if you like contemporary furniture, including some smaller-proportioned sectionals and bar stools for condos and lofts.
