THE MIKKO KOIVU FILE ROOKIE TO ELDER STATESMAN

Born: March 12, 1983 (32 years old), in Turku, Finland.

Opening night: Koivu's first regular-season game came as a 22-year-old on Nov. 5, 2005, a 3-1 victory in San Jose. Koivu skated 20 shifts totaling 13 minutes, 1 second, collecting a tripping minor, taking one shot and losing all four faceoffs he took.

NHL firsts: First goal came Nov. 6, 2005, in a 4-3 victory at Anaheim, with assists from Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Kyle Wanvig. First assist came 13 days later on Kurtis Foster's first NHL goal, part of a three-assist night.

Statistics: Koivu is the leading scorer in Wild history with 500 points, ranks first with 356 assists and second with 144 goals (75 behind Marian Gaborik). He is third with 422 penalty minutes, third with 42 power-play goals, first with 136 power-play assists, first with 178 power-play points, second with nine shorthanded goals, second with 18 shorthanded points, second with 25 game-winning goals, second with 1,657 shots (37 behind Gaborik), second with four overtime goals, first with 39 shootout goals, second with .52 assists per game and fourth with .73 points per game. Since 2007-08, Koivu has won the fifth-most faceoffs in the NHL (5,765), taken the second-most (10,664) and has the eighth-best winning percentage (minimum 8,000 faceoffs) at .541.

Elder statesman: Koivu ranks second in Wild history with 681 games, 63 behind Nick Schultz. Since Koivu made his NHL debut in 2005, 152 other players (140 skaters and 12 goalies) have played in at least one regular-season game with the Wild.

About the 'C': He is the sixth-longest-serving captain in the NHL. He is one of 20 players who debuted in 2005 who remain on that original team and played every game of their careers for that team.
