Minneapolis police say they have arrested a man in the slaying Monday of a 26-year-old father of three on a busy north Minneapolis street.

Authorities and witnesses said the suspect, a 32-year-old Minneapolis man, shot David Ryman in the neck and chest on the afternoon of Nov. 6 in the 4700 block of Lyndale Avenue N.

A police spokeswoman said this week that Ryman, a mechanic, had been working on a food truck at the time of the incident when "some type of argument occurred," but didn't elaborate. Ryman, whose third child had just been born, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A fundraising campaign to help Ryman's family cover the costs of his funeral has raised nearly $3,000.

The suspect was booked into Hennepin County jail on Thursday afternoon, where he remained held without bail on Friday, records show.

The Star Tribune isn't naming the man because he hasn't been formally charged.
