Augusta, Ga.

For the Friday newspaper, I wrote about the spectacular leaderboard topped by players who have committed to the 3M Open, and a sidebar on the intriguing Justin Harding, who barely qualified for the tourney before shooting a 69 in the first round.

This morning it's rainy and misty and there is a lot of rain in the forecast for the rest of the tournament. The Masters hasn't had a Monday finish since 1983. The previous Monday finish was 1973.

The sub-air system is magical when it comes to keeping the course dry, but there is a level of rain that will suspend play. The Masters does all it can to finish on Sunday, in prime time.

-Each of the last 13 Masters winners has been in the top 10 at the end of the first round. If that standard holds true this week, that would mean that those in contention are Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Ian Poulter, Dustin Johnson, Kevin Kisner, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Justin Harding, Adam Scott and John Rahm.

There is a large group of players at 3-under, including Jason Day, Tiger Woods and Ricky Fowler. Tournament favorite Ricky McIlroy and defending champion Patrick Reed shot 73s, leaving them seven off the lead.

The full leaderboard is here.
