Cade Ahrenholz scored two goals and added an assist Saturday to lead Class 2A, No. 5 Lakeville South past Class 2A, No. 9 Prior Lake 6-3 in boys' hockey at Hasse Arena.

Tyler Lafferty and Ahrenholz scored 3:59 apart in the final minutes of the first period to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Ashton Dahms and Tanner Ludtke scored 16 seconds apart in the second period to make it 4-0.

Will Magnuson and Justin Kingery scored 51 seconds apart late in the second period to cut the Lakers' deficit in half.

Dahms scored his second goal of the game to extend the Cougars' lead back to three. Will Schumacher got the Lakers back to within two with 2:49 left in the game. Ahrenholz capped the scoring with an empty-net goal for his second of the game.

Jack Novak had three assists, Cam Boche had two assists and Ethan Dahlmeir had 26 saves for the Cougars.

Schumacher had one goal and two assists and Trevor Boschee made 36 saves for the Lakers.

White Bear Lake 2, Park of Cottage Grove 1 (OT): Brady Borgestad scored 3:45 into overtime on a breakaway to give the host Bears the victory. Connor Nelson stopped 31 straight shots before Max Hamstad tipped a shot into the net with 55 seconds left in the third period to send the game to overtime. Nelson finished 32 saves. Dalton Anderson broke a scoreless tie with 7:02 left in regulation on the power play for the Wolfpack.

Rosemount 4, Lakeville North 3 (OT): Zach Bade scored with 1:16 left in overtime for the host Irish. Luke Levandowski led the Irish with two goals and two assists, including an assist on the winner. Owen Hendrikson had a goal and an assist and Jake Peterson had two assists for the Irish. Tyler Kochevar had one goal and one assist, Max Reddan had two assists and Griffin Pehrson and Kaleb Hurd had a goal each for the Panthers.

Shakopee 4, Burnsville 3 (OT): Jackson Vogel scored his second goal of the game 42 seconds into overtime to give the Sabers the victory over the host Blaze. Jere Huson sent the game to overtime for the Sabers with 3:46 left in the third period. Vogel and Linus Toward scored 1:13 apart in the first period for the Sabers. Zach LaMotte scored between the two first-period Sabers goal for the Blaze. Thomas Dundon and Kade Nielsen scored in the second period for the Blaze. Soren Pederson made 29 saves for the Sabers and Pierce Konrath had 23 for the Blaze.

Cretin-Derham Hall 3, Roseville 1: Jake Fisher scored two goals to lead Class 2A, No. 7 Cretin-Derham Hall past visiting Roseville.

Attila Lippai scored a power-play goal with 6:46 left in the game to give Cretin-Derham Hall a 2-1 lead. Fisher got the scoring started with 4:21 left in the first period and capped the scoring with an empty-net goal with 22 seconds left in the game. Zak Goodwin tied the score 1-1 for Roseville with 3:13 left in the first period. Marko Belak made 27 saves for Cretin-Derham Hall and Chet Carlson had 34 for Roseville.

Mahtomedi 4, Breck 0: Ben Dardis stopped 26 shots for the Class 1A, No. 3 Zephyrs in a shutout of the Class 1A, No. 8 Mustangs. Ethan Peterson and Adam Johnson had one goal and one assist each and Grant Dardis and Tony Neubeck had a goal each for the Zephyrs. Jack Thomson had 30 saves for the Mustangs.

Stillwater 3, Woodbury 1: Alex Corbett scored two goals to lead the Ponies past the visiting Royals. Owen Grau scored a goal and Nolan LaCosse made 18 saves for the Ponies. Derek Marrier scored a goal and Otto Altman made 21 saves for the Royals.

Minneapolis 4, South St. Paul 0: Alex Lamont made 17 saves for his first varsity shutout for host Minneapolis. Jack Stock had one goal and an assist, Ben Matthews had two assists and Andrew Lybeck, Jack Hanson and Drew Pitts scored a goal each for Minneapolis. Cole Sitar made 34 saves for the Packers.

Girls' hockey

Apple Valley 3, Farmington 2 (OT): Makayla Moran scored her second goal of the game 22 seconds into overtime for the visiting Eagles.

Moran scored her first goal of the game with 6:28 left in the third period to tie the score 2-2. Faith Dougan got the Eagles on the board 3:29 into the game. Liv Helleson and Sam Moehle scored 3:38 apart in the second period to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Macy Mueller made 35 saves for the Eagles.

Rosemount 5, Lakeville North 4: Kiersten Browning scored two goals, including the game-winner in the third period, and had three assists to lead the Irish past the visiting Panthers. Sophie Stramel scored two goals, Whitney Tuttle had four assists, Lilly Nelson scored a goal and Bridget Heffron had 19 saves for the Irish. Gracie Hanson had two goals and one assist, Morgan Albrecht had one goal and one assist, Giann Casparini scored a goal and Nora Wall had 20 saves for the Panthers.

Boys' basketball

Minneapolis South 63, Minneapolis Washburn 55 (OT): Jerome Williams, Jr. scored 18 points to lead the Tigers past the visiting Millers in overtime. Rein Maegi led the Millers with 13 points and Jake Husaby had 12.
