A 31-year-old Prior Lake man has been charged with making fake postage meter stamps for nearly three years before getting caught.

Andre G. Mehilove appeared Tuesday in federal court in St. Paul on a charge of making counterfeit postage stamps.

According to the indictment:

From August 2006 to April 2009, Mehilove, also known as Andre George Solanikov and Andrejs Solanikovs, produced and copied the stamps on his computer from other postage meter stamps he bought online.

Authorities searched his home and his workplace on April 3, 2009, and seized computers, items with counterfeit postage, PayPal identity devices and online postage labels.
