'Wise Blood'

Opening Thursday: Based on Flannery O'Connor's novel, this production is trumpeted as "an immersive opera-exhibition" at the Soap Factory in Minneapolis. It was co-commissioned by the Walker Art Center. Visual artist Chris Larson and composer Anthony Gatto collaborated on the project, which involves audiences with art installations and live music. Michael Sommers, the inventive and image-minded force behind Open Eye Figure Theatre, directs this effort. Several New York singers are involved in the show, with music from the Adam Meckler Orchestra. "Wise Blood" was O'Connor's breakthrough novel in 1952. It involves a war veteran and a crisis of faith. (8 p.m. Thu.-next Sun. $40. Ends June 14. Soap Factory, 514 SE. 2nd St., Mpls. www.soapfactory.org.)
