Patrick Guzzo and Jaedon Leslie each had a goal and an assist in the first two periods as No. 14 Ohio State beat Wisconsin 3-1 on Friday night in a Big Ten men's hockey opener in Columbus, Ohio.

Guzzo scored in the 14th minute of the first period and Leslie at 6:27 of the second. Stephen Halliday made it 3-0 on a 5-on-3 power play in the third. Cruz Lucius, a freshman who once played for Gentry Academy in Vadnais Heights, scored for Wisconsin with 3:12 left.

Jakub Dobes made 29 saves for the Buckeyes (3-0, 1-0 Big Ten). Former Gopher Jared Moe stopped 42 shots for the Badgers (0-1, 0-1).


No. 1 Denver 5, No. 11 Notre Dame 2: Casey Dornbach scored the first and fifth goals to leads the host Pioneers to a victory against the Irish. Ryder Rolston and Chase Blackmun scored for Notre Dame.

Alaska 4, St. Thomas 2: Ryan O'Neill scored 25 seconds into the game for the Tommies, but the Nanooks got the next four goals before Lucas Wahlin scored the home team's second.

No. 3 North Dakota 6, Holy Cross 0: The Fighting Hawks scored four goals in the opening period at Ralph Engelstad Arena to take control. Jackson Blake and Mark Senden scored 17 seconds apart in the ninth minute for a 2-0 lead. Gavin Hain and Cooper Moore had the other goals in the first. Riese Gaber had a power-play goal in the second.

Arizona State 3, Bemidji State 0: Matthew Kopperud scored late in the first period and Jackson Niedermayer early in the third and TJ Semptimphelter stopped 40 shots as the Sun Devils (1-2) edged the host Beavers who were playing their first game.
