Schmitt, Alice B. Beloved mother and grandmother, died May 30th at the age of 90. Alice is survived by daughter Susan (Jim) Kubovec; grandsons Michael and Brian; sister Louise Gerarden; nephews and nieces Patrick, Timothy, Kevin and Maureen Gerarden, Kathleen Westbrook and Jean Annibale. She was preceded in death by parents Harry and Barbara McCarter and her brother John. Alice was born July 3, 1922 in Appleton, Wisconsin. Following high school, she moved to Seattle where she was employed in the engineering department at Boeing Aviation. She married Frederick Schmitt in 1949 and they settled in Minneapolis. Alice retired from Medtronics in 1988, lived in St. Anthony where she was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Alice enjoyed travel and experienced many wonderful pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Rome, Fatima, Lourdes and Medjugorje. She was involved in the arts all of her life playing violin, joining dance and drama clubs, painting, crafting and writing poetry. The family wishes to thank the staff of Arbor Lakes Senior Living (Memory Care), Maple Grove and St. Therese Residence, New Hope as well as Dr. April Lind, Park Nicollet, RN Jeff Grivna, Methodist Hospice Program, Deacon Steven Najarian of St. Charles Borromeo, Frs. Michael Izen, Randal Kasel and Mark Juettner for their compassionate care, friendship and dedication to Alice. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Monday at the Church of St. Charles Borromeo, 2739 Stinson Blvd., St. Anthony. Visitation in the church atrium beginning at 10 AM Monday.
