Flynn, Sharon Geraldine a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and good friend, passed away February 24, 2023 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 86. Born in St, Paul Minnesota on September 3, 1936 to James (Jerry) and Marion Flynn, Sharon grew up in Cannon Falls, Minnesota with her sister, Joan. Following her graduation from Cannon Falls High School, Sharon attended Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, as well as St. Mary's Nursing School, after which she began her life-long career in nursing, specializing in the area of psychiatric nursing. Sharon's career in nursing took her from Minnesota to Colorado and even a brief stint in California to pursue her career, where she worked tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of her patients. Even into her retirement years, Sharon was always looking out for others and caring for their well-being. Sharon made the Minnetonka area her home for her entire life, until a need for more support prompted her move to Oregon, and then Washington. Sharon had a wit and warmth about her that made for great conversation. A caring, devoted Catholic, Sharon was there for all - her family, friends and neighbors. Even later in life, when Sharon needed some assistance herself, her focus was directed toward others and how she could help them. That generosity was felt by those who knew Sharon throughout her life. Many friends and family were the lucky recipients of everything from her beautiful knitted creations, ski lessons, visits to museums and the theater, a card and phone call on a birthday, and a great book recommendation, usually followed by the book itself. An avid reader, Sharon read upwards of 20 books a month, and kept a list of each book read, with a "no" or "good" as her mini-review next to it. When not knitting or reading, Sharon cared generously for her feline companions, and contributed to many an animal charity during her time. Wolves held an extra special place in her heart. Sharon remained in close contact with her nursing school classmates and other friends, attending reunions every year. She remained close with her sister, Joan, until her passing in 2010, and continued to stay in touch with Joan's children, Sharon's nephews and niece - Eric, Jim and Barbara Miller, as well as their families, who she is survived by. Sharon is also survived by her second cousins who reside throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. Sharon will be remembered as a generous soul, devoted daughter, supportive sister, loving aunt, and faithful friend. May she rest in peace. A Celebration of Life will be held in Sharon's honor at St. Pius Catholic Church, located at 410 Colvill St. West, Cannon Falls, Minnesota, on Thursday, June 29th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Metropolitan State University Nursing program (Sharon's alma mater) @ metrostate.edu/give/….
