Gromek, Dolores (Salamandyk) age 92, of North Oaks, formerly of St. Anthony Village, passed away on March 12, 2023. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Theodore (Ted) Gromek; parents, Mary and William Salamandyk; brother, John Salamandyk. Survived by daughters, Janice (Martin) Cole, Cheryl (Michael) Flandrena and Gayle (Burton) Selsback; sister, Gloria (David) Kniaz; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, family and friends. Dolores was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1930, and raised in the Ukrainian Orthodox community of Northeast Minneapolis. She graduated from Robbinsdale High School, married Ted in 1951 and was welcomed into his large Polish family. Ted and Dolores moved to St. Anthony Village in 1955, where they lived for the next 49 years. They were active in St. Anthony schools, their church and several civic organizations. Dolores also worked at the University of Minnesota bookstores and in a dental office and later took up painting, both watercolor and oil. Funeral service Friday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at Waverly Gardens Presbyterian Home, 5919 Centerville Road, North Oaks, where Dolores resided and will be missed by many caring staff and friends. Visitation 1/2 -hour beforehand. Private interment at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to the Minnesota Alzheimer's Association.
