Darkenwald, John F. Age 76, of Otsego, MN, passed away March 13, 2023. He was a strong athlete who played football for Edina High School and was on the last U of M Gopher Football team to win the Big 10 Championship in 1967. In 1969, he and his father founded the family's commercial real estate development business that is ongoing today. He especially loved his family, farm life and his traveled adventures all over the world. John is survived by his wife of 53 years Tonya, children Aaron, Billie, and Casey (Ashley), and grandchildren Tariq Henry, Jaden Henry, Isabella Darkenwald, Kane Darkenwald, and Odin Darkenwald. Siblings are Clem Darkenwald (Idona), Deborah Yankoupe (George) and Gilbert Darkenwald. Preceded in death by his parents Gilbert M. Darkenwald and Billie V. Darkenwald. Funeral service at The Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis on March 22, 2023, at 12:00 noon, with visitation one hour prior and lunch to follow. Memorials preferred to: Great River Young Life
