Joyce Elaine Sheffer

Sheffer, Joyce Elaine passed away on March 11, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Sigurd Lunde, her former husband, Lewis Sheffer, and her son-in-law, Keith Hauer. Joyce was born on August 10, 1935, in Askov, MN where she graduated Valedictorian of her class and was selected the Rutabaga Queen. She was a gifted musician and played the piano at many events. Joyce received her Registered Nursing degree from Hamline Ashbury School of Nursing and went on to practice at several hospitals and clinics throughout Minnesota. She and Lewis raised a family of three girls whom she shared her love of music with. An adamant supporter of the arts, Joyce loved Orchestra Hall, the Guthrie Theater, and art in all its forms of expression. Twenty years ago, she rekindled a relationship with her high school sweetheart, Norman Jensen. They lived in downtown Minneapolis where they enjoyed city life and traveling around the world together. A beloved Nana, Joyce was blessed with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who she loved spending time with. She could often be found at school auditoriums, hockey rinks, and gymnasiums - supporting them in their various activities. Joyce will be remembered for her effortless warmth and kindness. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Debra, Carol and Nancy (John); her nine grandchildren (Noelle, Nissa, Margot, Tyler, Spencer, Riley, Colin, Maeve and Maggie); her eight great-grandchil-dren (Emma, Henry, Kailtin, Luke, Cooper, Chelsea, George and Violet); her partner, Norman Jensen, and his sons (Kirk (Sara), Erik, Bart (Valerie) and Norm's grandchildren (Oskar, Claudia and Katelyn). A celebration of life will take place at the Edina Washburn- McReavy funeral chapel on March 25th with a visitation beginning at noon followed by a service at 1:00pm.
