Haines, Miriam age 84, passed away on January 22. She is preceded in death by her husband Don and survived by her daughters Lisa (Randall) Kolberg and Ann Haines Holy Eagle; sons Jeff (Heidi) Haines and Douglas Haines; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons; sister Bea Friesth, brother Paul Peterson and sister/brother-in-law Pete and Adie (Haines) Hegrenes. She was born November 24, 1938 in Bradley, SD to Rev. William and Valborg (Sorum) Peterson. She spent her childhood in various small towns in Minnesota and South Dakota. She graduated from St. Olaf College where she met Don. In their years of ELCA ministry, Miriam, Don and family lived and served in Sask. Canada, Storden MN, Ishpeming MI, Wausau and Milwaukee WI. After retirement from parish ministry they moved to the Twin Cities where they were surrounded by family. She found great satisfaction working as an administrative assistant at Westminster Presbyterian, spending summers at Sand Bay in Door County and faithfully worshiping at Central Lutheran Church. She made many friends along the way, most recently at Lake Shore Drive Condos in Richfield, MN where she delighted in being a part of book clubs and the library committee. Her home always had a place for everything, a pot of coffee ready to brew, and treats hidden around for her grandchildren. Her life was filled with music. She started writing poetry in her fifties, and many enjoyed her work in birthday or Christmas cards. Memorial service February 4, 11 am at Central Lutheran Church, streamed online at centralmpls.org.
