Pemberton, Theodore "Ted" age 92 of Minnetonka (formerly New Hope), entered the arms of Jesus and eternal peace on January 15, 2023. His love, humor and memories will be cherished by his daughters, Dawn (Shayne) & Kara (Terry); grandchildren, Alison (Shawn), Andrea (Russ), Daniel (Karlie) and Sierra; great grandchildren, Nathan, Dorothy, Joel, and Russell "Vee"; brother Jerry (Katzy) Pemberton, niece Deanna, and nephew Kurt, and a host of longtime friends. Ted was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Carole on June 20, 2010; and his brother, Richard "Dick" Pemberton on July 20, 2022. Ted was born September 18, 1930, in Peoria, Illinois to Leeman and Delilah Pemberton. After graduating from Woodruff High School, he served his country in the US Air Force as a Military Police Officer. He graduated from the University of Illinois Champagne and went on to attain a master's degree from University of Wisconsin Superior. He married the love of his life, Carole, on July 1, 1956. They moved to Minnesota in 1961 and Ted began his 30+ year teaching career in the Robbinsdale Area School district. He taught English and Social Studies, was Audio Visual Coordinator, Athletic Director as well as the Cooper High School summer school principal. He was the Coach for Boys Swimming and Boys & Girls Tennis at Hosterman Junior High School. He was Chairman of the Teacher Federal Credit Union and served on the Board of the Credit Union for many years. He was a MN State Swim Official and Starter for both Boys & Girls State Swim Meets for decades. After his teaching career, he and Carole ran an infant daycare out of their home for several years and then before fully "retiring" he worked for Prime Builders as their project manager. Ted enjoyed fishing with his brother and friends, traveling the world with his wife, tending to his garden and yard, attending his grandchildren's events and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church where he was part of the original "Dream Team", involved with the creation of Bloom Daycare as well as a founding member of Imara International school for women in Nigeria. Ted was a 60+ year member of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Illinois, White Hall Lodge No. 80. Ted's Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Messiah United Methodist Church, 17805 County Road 6, Plymouth, MN 55447. Visitation will be held at Messiah one hour prior to service. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to an animal rescue of your choice or the American Warrior Initiative (501c3).
