Hagman, Harvey Dixon age 83, of Minnetonka and formerly of Ft. Myers, FL., passed away peacefully on January 21, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Harvey was born on April 21, 1939, in Minneapolis. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School in 1957. In 1961, he graduated from the University of Minnesota and completed his ROTC training and entered the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. Throughout his career, Harvey worked for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, St. Paul Pioneer Press, Baltimore Sun and the Washington Times as a freelance, photo journalist, travel writer and international correspondent. He started his international travels by traveling to Cuba by himself at age 17. While in college, Harvey signed up at Coffman Memorial Union to travel to Central and South America with three other students. His life of traveling and journalism took him all around the world and lasted for over 60 years. In 1997, Harvey was united in marriage to Kathryn LaCombe. They led active lives of hiking, camping and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; one sister, Alix Hagman Behm (Ken); sister-in-law, Jean King (Robert); one niece; two nephews; five step-children and many step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at a later date. Memorials to honor Harvey's life may be directed to the Washburn High School Foundation.
