Ann-Marie Bjornson

Bjornson, Ann-Marie died peacefully at her home in Chisago City Minnesota on December 20, 2022. She was born in Malmo, Sweden on February 11, 1924 to Eja and Gustav Winberg. Her sister, Britt (Pedersen) of Lund, Sweden, was born almost 5 years later in January of 1929. Ann-Marie graduated from the Lund University School of Medicine in 1952 and came to the University of Minne-sota for a medical residency. There she met Dr. Robert "Bjorn" Bjornson and they fell deeply in love. They were engaged in September and married in December. They had 6 children; Glen (Patti), Rolf (Lisa), Hans (Christina), Lars "Arni" (Robin), Leif (Meg), and Kirsten (Jerry). Their grandchildren are Leif, Britt, Eja, Christian, Emma, Grace, Rob, Andrew, Kelea, Max and Erick, and their great-grandchildren are Kainoa, Elliot, Lucy, Liv and Maeve with 2 more coming soon. Ann-Marie and Bjorn led an adventurous life. In 1966 they moved their family to Maui, Hawaii where they grew to respect and love the Hawaiian culture and to live in the spirit of aloha. The family moved back to St. Paul late in 1969 and as her children were finishing their education and beginning their careers Ann-Marie went back to school and obtained a certificate in chemical dependency counseling from the University of Minnesota. In 1979 Bjorn and Ann-Marie returned to Maui where Bjorn finished his career in Radiology at the Maui Medical Group and they both did chemical dependency counseling for many years. They traveled often to Sweden to visit Ann-Marie's family, to Scotland to visit Bjorn's sister, and loved hiking the Austrian Alps where they enjoyed many very good friends. A celebration of Ann-Marie's life will be held this summer. Memorials preferred to Doctors Without Borders or the St. Croix Festival Theatre.
