Brooks, Delores J. (Weiss) On Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022, Delores Brooks, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Adeline Weiss. Survived by her son, Matthew D. (Katie) Hoy; grandchildren Matthew (Masha) Hoy, and Daniel Hoy; brother, Ronald (Marion) Weiss; several nieces, nephews, and good friends. Born on August 25, 1929, Delores grew up in Minneapolis. She graduated from Washburn High School and attended the University of MN, majoring in history. Her passion and appreciation for art and beautiful things drew her into the world of art and interior design. Mentored by an eclectic and fascinating group of friends, she developed an exquisite talent for interior design, interior decorating, and art appraisal. Delores has a long-standing membership in the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and served on their board in past years. She was also a great supporter and promoter of the Boys and Girls Club of Minneapolis and served on their board as well. Adventurous, fun-loving and fiercely independent, Delores often drove back and forth to Palm Beach, FL with her beloved cat, listening to a collection of jazz and Parisian café music at top volume. Delores was beautiful and charming and a delightful conversationalist with a keen sense of humor that made her very fun to be with. Her vibrant spirit and appreciation of art and beauty leave a treasured legacy for those who knew and loved her to continue. Celebration of life to be planned later.
