Isla Marie 'Bunnie' (Anderson) Tomkinson

Tomkinson, Isla Marie "Bunnie" (Anderson) passed into the presence of Jesus Christ, her Savior on September 21, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born January 29, 1925 in Brainerd, MN. Together with parents, Carl and Nickie, and younger sister, Dorothy they lived in a small house in town and also had a cabin on Rice lake, just a 10 minute drive from town. Time spent at their cabin made for wonderful memories with many friends and family members. Bunnie played clarinet in high school and also the city band which kept her quite busy, and with any spare time she helped out in her father's Office Supply store. She loved spending time with her cousins and friends from school, often at the cabin. Boat rides were the main attraction. Bunnie graduated high school in 1943 and went on to pursue her Nursing degree at Hamline University in St. Paul, graduating in 1948. She worked at Asbury Methodist Hospital in Obstetrics for several years. In 1947 she met the love of her life, Danny, and they married in August 1950, settling in Richfield, MN. Bunnie's faith in Jesus Christ and strong testimony were evident every day. Her giving heart was demonstrated by always having an open home. She kept her family as top priority, teaching us the value of prayer and modeling a life of honoring Christ. Preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nicolina Anderson, a younger sister, Nicolina Adele, and husband, Daniel. Survived by children Jan (Lee) Rychel, Judy (Peter) Noelle, Richard (Joan) Tomkinson, grandchildren Jackie, Dan, Karl, Ann, Christopher, Michael, great-grandchildren Noah, Lucas, Calista; sister Dorothy Nordby. The family is very grateful for the wonderful care Bunnie received from Walker Care Suites in Edina, also the Allina Health Hospice team of wonderful nurses and other staff. We know she couldn't have been in any better place. Funeral service Friday, September 30th, 2022 at 11 AM - Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Avenue South Mpls.
