Anderson, Gary Selby Our beloved Gary passed away June 12, 2022, age 82, at his home in Minneapolis with loved ones around him. Born in St. Paul, MN, Gary attended Central High School (class of 1958), Gustavus Adolphus College (class of 1962), and Augustana Seminary in IL. He was a Lutheran minister for many years, serving in Roseville, MI, and in Flint MI, and also in Golden Valley, MN. He later became a financial planner and advisor for American Express Financial Services (Ameriprise) before enjoying retirement. Along with playing guitar and singing regularly for decades at various nursing homes and local gigs, he gave his time freely to the library, block club, the Guitar Guys, his Writers group, and took daily wanderings around his local pond, sharing his observations, musings, and photos. Always a singer, songwriter, and poet at heart, he performed locally for years and published several folk music albums accompanied by the Snow Leopard Collaboration. You may still find their music on Spotify. He also self-published a series of poetry chapbooks. He is survived by Beloved Catherine; daughter Leslie, sons Ryan (Rachel) and Nathan and their mother Karen; stepchildren Amy (Mitch), Ben (Emily), and Carrie (Michael); grandchildren Jake, Nick, Eliza, and Elaina and step-grandchildren Soren (Alyssa), Lucas, Zoe, Sadie, Oscar, Theo, and Tess; sister Linda, brothers Howie (Val), Tim (Pam), and Tom (Sue), sisters-in-law Sue and Nancy; along with many wonderful nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, great-nephews, and other cherished family and friends. Memorial service July 7 at the Cremation Society of MN, Edina at 3:00 pm. Light refreshments following. In lieu of flowers, memorials welcome to Doctors without Borders, the ACLU, or any Nature Conservation organizations.
