Owens, Allason "Al" of St. Paul, MN, flew away home on 3/28/2022 after a valiant battle with cancer. Al was born in Rockford, Il, on 12/22/1953 and graduated from Wesleyan Illinois, in 1977. As a statistician, Al loved a good math problem and made a career out of numbers working at US Bank for 26 years. When he wasn't pondering the cosmos or the newest Hubble telescope images, Al taught himself the art of woodworking. His finely honed craft and his love of the wood were evident in all the furniture he built or restored. He shared his love of wood with his grandchildren, daughters, and anyone willing to learn. Al was preceded in death by his grandmother Eva Williamson; mother, Lessa Owens; father, Allason Gilbert; brothers, Martin "Todd", Earl, and Isaac "Lucky" Bassett. He is survived by his beloved aunt, Katie Sample; daughters, Nathalie Crowley, Kerry Crowley, and Thecla Owens; his cherished grandchildren, Eva and Solomon Crowley; innumerable family, friends, and his dog Honey. Al's daughters will host a memorial picnic on August 6th, 2022, at Waburn Picnic Area 4655 46th Ave S In Minneapolis from 1 pm -5 pm. Memorial donations can be made to Summit Academy OIC & ReUse Warehouse store.
