Hornby, Bernadine M. Age 90 of Little Falls and Buffalo MN, passed away January 2, 2022. Preceded in death by husband, Francis (Fritz) Hornby, parents Joseph and Ester Biederman; siblings, Norbert, Lola, Lorraine and Emil. Survived by children, Charles (Suella) Hornby, Carole (Mark) Gernes; Paul (Suzanne) Hornby, John Hornby, Mary (Jamie) Kirkendall; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Overbaugh; sister-in-laws Rita Hornby, Elfie Hornby and brother-in-law James Hornby; many nieces and nephews. Born in Oak Park MN, she learned to cook and sew at age 5, after her father died. Foley High School graduate. First a dressmaker for Herberger's, she moved to work at Honeywell in Minneapolis. There, a mischievous coworker tossed springs at her from across the room and was soon walking her home. Bernadine and Francis were married June 26, 1954 at Ascension Catholic Church, Minneapolis. They built their first home in Coon Rapids, and were one of the founding families of Epiphany Catholic Church. Many CCD classes were held in their basement until the church was built. Later, they moved to Anoka, where Bernadine gardened, cooked for an elementary school, did home daycare, volunteered for St. Steven's funeral luncheons and spent time with extended family. Bernadine and Francis enjoyed camping, fishing and joined the Good Sam's Club. Bernadine had great faith and found peace in prayer. Her infectious smile, love of family, warm hugs, and especially laughter will be deeply missed by family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 305 4th St. SE, Little Falls; Saturday, February 5. Gathering at 10:00 AM, Mass 11:00 AM. Private interment at Camp Ripley Cemetery.
