VanHatten, David Albert passed away peacefully at age 81.

He was a one of a kind. He loved playing cards, he loved puzzles, he was proud of his career as a retired Electrical Engineer, he loved to tinker, he loved being Bagette Dad for GreenBagLady.org, he was a man of great faith who loved his family and friends with an unfettered fierceness we all felt deeply.

David was preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret Agnes Lee VanHatten. David is survived by his four children (spouses), Ruth Pauly (Gary Pauly), Thomas VanHatten (Angela VanHatten), Teresa Van- Hatten-Granath (Alec Granath) and Jane VanHatten (Karl Nelson). He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, Marissa Corrello (Hannah Corrello), Dalton Pauly, Margaret Granath, Spencer Pauly, Isabelle VanHatten, Ellica Granath, Vincent VanHatten, Kyle Granath, Rose VanNelson, Caroline VanHatten and Ann VanNelson. David came from a huge VanHatten family, with 7 brothers and sisters. At the time of his death he was survived by his sister Frances Trapp as well as countless nieces/nephews. David was also considered part of the Ruth and Cyril Evans family (survived by "siblings" Vernon Evans, Sr. Francene Evans and Maurice Evans and many nieces/nephews). He is also survived by his Minnesota adopted "Mother" Barbara Kinsella. He called himself Grandpa/Dad to families from Brazil (The Sheyla Werebe family), Mexico (The extended Flores Family) and Costa Rica (The Alfredo Carballo Family).

Due to Covid, we had a private Catholic Service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota on June 12, then will travel to South Dakota for him to buried in the Conde Cemetery next to Ruth and Cyril Evans in July. Additional small celebrations of David's life will also be held to share in the memory of our wonderful Dad. He will be greatly missed by us all.
