Moffat, John "Jack" Wise III John "Jack" Wise Moffat III passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2021 at the age of 76, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Anne and John. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marlene; his daughter Monica (David) Svobodny of Eden Prairie, MN, his son Matthew (Sarah) of Princeton, MN and their two children Jack Michael and Grace Genevieve. Jack is also survived by four siblings and many nieces and nephews. Jack grew up in suburban Pittsburgh, PA, graduating with a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Lafayette College, Easton, PA in 1967. He began his professional career with Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation, Aliquippa (PA) Works and eventually rose to Assistant Works Manager of the Continuous Casting Operation, at the age of 32. In 1980, Jack left Jones and Laughlin Steel to become President of Northern Malleable Iron, St. Paul Minnesota. In 1983 Jack led an investor group and purchased Northern Malleable Iron, in what started his career as an "Industrial Entrepreneur". He went on to acquire and operate several successful companies over his long business career. In 2011 Jack retired from active business activities. As busy as Jack was, he always found time for his family, as nothing was more important. He made it a point to attend every sporting event his children participated in. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Jack. He enjoyed a quiet evening with friends and a glass of wine in hand. Jack had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities, with a pleasant personality that was contagious to everyone he met. Upon retirement, Jack and Marlene moved to Jupiter, Florida, while maintaining a home in Eden Prairie, where they would spend holidays and summers with their children and friends. During these years, Jack has remained very active and involved with his children and his grandchildren, "Jackie and Grace", who he adored. Jack was an avid "golfer" being a member of Bear Path Golf Club, Eden Prairie, MN and Jonathan's Landing Golf Club, Jupiter, Florida. Vigil will be held Monday, June 14 between 4-7 PM at Washburn McReavy Funeral Chapel, 7625 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 15 at 11 AM, at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 8201 Main Street, Chanhassen, MN. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
