Seckinger, John W. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Williams Dingmann Funeral Home in St. Cloud for John Seckinger, age 80, of St. Cloud who died Wednesday at Quiet Oaks Hospice in St. Augusta. A service will be at 5:30 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday. Rev. Stephen Beauclair OSB will officiate and entombment will be at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud at a later date. John was born May 12, 1941 in New Rockford, ND to Herbert Andrew & Edna Mae (Pierce) Seckinger. John graduated Salutatorian from St. James Academy in 1959. He then went on to attend St. John's University in Collegeville, MN and graduated in 1963 with an accounting major and English minor. John worked at the St. Cloud Hospital from 1965-2008 and was its long-time Chief Financial Officer. John's accomplishments were many spanning over 4 decades. He assisted the Sisters in the Business Office in converting the "hand-written" records to an automated system. During these early years John grew an appreciation for the Benedictine Sisters mission of health care. He never stopped admiring the Sisters of St. Benedict proclaiming their title as the "Sponsoring Body of St. Cloud Hospital." He was an integral part of the team that formed CentraCare Health System and was Chief Financial Officer of CentraCare until he retired in 2008. John engineered a major change in the annual revenue of the organization allowing the health care services of the corporation to expand to meet the health care needs of Central Minnesota. He was a fun fellow proclaiming his deep love for and admiration of "my Sisters." John was also very instrumental in the early stage development of Quiet Oaks Hospice and was crucial in securing its funding. He served as chairman of the board and as a board member of Quiet Oaks. John had two children from his first marriage to Judy Muyres, Michael and David Seckinger, and one child from his second marriage to Judy Reiter, Bethny Short (Seckinger). Survivors include his children: Michael of Hastings; David (Kate) of Minnetrista; Bethny (Justin Short) of Independence; grandchildren: Megan, Jessica, Eve, John, Ted and Teagan. Brothers, James (Shelia Block) of Toronto and Lawrence (Sue) of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Mary. Memorials are preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice or the Poor Clare Sisters.
