Berkley Allen Duckson

Duckson, Berkley Allen March 13, 2002 - February 20, 2021 With deepest sorrow, we announce the tragic death of Berkley Allen Duckson on February 20, 2021 as a result of injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident in Brainerd, Minnesota. Berkley was just shy of his 19th birthday. Berkley was born to Pamela and Jay Duckson on March 13, 2002. Berks had an undeniable zest for life. His adventurous spirit led him to engage in hockey, fishing, hunting, boating and skiing. Berkley cast a wide net when it came to friends. They would tell you that he was kind, generous, charismatic and easy to talk to. He valued loyalty, appreciated a practical joke, and relished a lively political discussion. Berkley was quick to smile and laughed easily. He particularly loved traveling, trying out new recipes with his dad, and "loving up" his dog, Gully. Berkley's beloved mom passed away when he was just 12 years old. He and Jay, thick as thieves and the best of friends, chose to live life to the fullest because that is exactly what Pam would have wanted for them. Our hearts grieve for Jay who has lost the two loves of his life, but our hearts are also filled with the joy of believing that Berkley has been reunited with his adoring mom. He was most clearly the light in her life and a source of great pride for her. In June of 2020, Berkley graduated from Minnehaha Academy with honors. He was a bright and inquisitive student who took care in finding truth. Berkley was a member of the prestigious International Space Station project, a varsity hockey teammate, and a co-founder of the MA fishing team. His classmates voted him most likely to run a Fortune 500 company. Many of the friendships developed at Minnehaha Academy were ones that began as early as preschool. In August of 2020, Berkley became a "Horned Frog" when he enrolled at Texas Christian University. College life was looking good on Berks as he completed his first semester with high academic marks and a great group of friends at Sigma Chi. One of Berkley's favorite places on earth was Gull Lake, Minnesota. He was never happier than when he was on the water with a fishing rod in his hand and a couple of friends by his side. We say goodbye to a beautiful life lost far too early, and know that he died doing something he loved in a place that he treasured. How great the pain of searing loss, but yet we trust in the greater plan of our Lord and Savior. Berkley is survived by his father Jay Duckson, and grandparents aunts, uncles, cousins and a huge network of beloved friends. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, February 27 from 12:00-6:00pm at the Westin Edina, 3201 Galleria, Edina 55435. Due to COVID-19 regulations, there will be multiple rooms and outdoor space for people to social distance and honor Berkley's life. We will have spaces where you may gather and safely be with others during this time if you choose to stay. We invite you to come. In lieu of flowers, please if you wish, make a lasting donation to a cause that was meaningful to Berkley, Save the Gull Lake Walleye Foundation. Please make checks out to Jay Duckson, and in the memo line: Save the Gull Lake Walleye Foundation. Klecatsky's - West Funeral Home 651-451-1551
