Weides, Helen Budde Helen Budde Weides, 93, November 1, 1927 - February 16, 2021. Entered eternal life surrounded by her five children, Robert Weides (Elizabeth), Margaret Pospisil (Mark), James Weides (Kipha), Patricia Roth (Steven), Elizabeth Zenisek (Stephen); ten grandchildren, Erin, Timothy (Naomi), Daniel, Sarah, Christopher (Kendra), Andrew (Libby) Nicholas (Katie), Rachel (Geovanni), Caitlin and Hannah; and six great-grandchildren, Kiara, Spencer, Wyatt, Elaine, Frances and Mateo. Preceded in death by husband Franklin Weides, parents Walter Budde Sr. and Helen Hoopes Budde, sister Mildred Speeter and brother Walter Budde Jr. Helen and the Budde family were founding members of Annunciation Catholic Church parish and she was blessed to receive all seven sacraments at Annunciation Church as a lifelong parishioner. Helen attended Annunciation Catholic School, the Academy of the Holy Angels (Class of 1945) and St Catherine University (Class of 1949) in St. Paul Minne-sota. Helen earned a bachelor's degree in Primary Education. She shared her love for education as a teacher with the students at Monroe School in Minneapolis. Her patience and calm demeanor were a gift to her students and to all she influenced in her lifetime, including her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen met Franklin Weides when they were both sharing their vocal gifts with the Annunciation Church choir. Helen and Frank were married in 1955. Frank's Air Force career saw the couple traveling the country and the world living in California, South Dakota, Germany and Virginia. Their family grew with their travels. They returned to Minneapolis in 1969 and settled in Helen's family home in south Minneapolis, a home built by her father and in which she resided for the remainder of her life. Helen was devoted to her family and in sharing her life's mission of stewardship to others. Her many ministries included: Girl Scouts of the USA, Annunciation Church, Annunciation Women's Council, funeral luncheons, prayer chain, card ministry, Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women and the Annunciation chapter of the Antone Guild whose purpose was to provide support to Our Lady of Peace Home and Hospice in St. Paul, Minnesota. Our Lady of Peace Home and Hospice (OLP) became a lifelong passion and ministry of Helen's, as she led service projects and fundraising efforts for close to 50 years. The Antone Guild and Friends of Our Lady groups at Annunciation lovingly created prayer shawls & bed pads to be used by patients at OLP, collected much needed patient supplies and assembled colorful treat bags to be enjoyed by patients and visitors. The OLP Fund Raising Dinner at Annunciation Church celebrated its 41st year in 2020. Helen's annual Holiday Nut Sale also raised much needed funds for OLP. Her dedication to this worthy mission has inspired her children and grandchildren to participate and to continue these fundraising ministries. Helen's love and selfless service extends well into the fabric of her community.The family would like to thank all who contributed to the care of Helen on this journey, Dr. Leach and Dr. Tsai from Minnesota Oncology, Dr. Praeger from Allina Health, Janie and Mary from Our Lady of Peace Home Health Care as well as the entire staff at Our Lady of Peace Hospice. Helen was treated with care, compassion and love until she peacefully transitioned to everlasting life. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, February 24th at 11 a.m. with reviewal beginning at 10 a.m. at Church of the Annunciation, 509 W 54th St, Minneapolis, MN 55419.
