Age 66, of Upper St. Clair, peacefully passed away at her home on Sunday, January 24, 2021 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife and best friend of Bob Neddermeyer, Jr. for 45 years; loving mother of Robert (Jerri) Neddermeyer, III and Katheryn (Philip) Van der Celen; proud grandmother of Sylvia and Felix Neddermeyer and Lucas and Julian Van der Celen; cherished sister of Suely (Carlos) Zullino and Mara (CJ) Welter; treasured daughter of the late Mario and Cida Baptista; caring daughter-in-law of the late Bob Sr. and Ruth Neddermeyer and sister-in-law of Deb (Terry) Holmquist; dear aunt of Carla Julia, Cintia, Karina, Paula, Julie, Michael, and Travis.

Sumara taught herself English by watching soap operas and devouring pulp novels. She loved music and dance. She once drank three whole sips of wine in just one sitting. She enjoyed gymnastics, skiing, cards, bowling. After 40 years of considering football the most pointless thing in existence, she came to delight in watching the Steelers on TV every weekend. But maybe the things to do for herself that she looked forward to the most were to travel, sightsee, and try new restaurants.

Sumara had a high school diploma, a master’s degree in common sense, and a PHD in people. Towering at 5’1”, absolutely no one made the mistake of getting on her bad side more than once. She spoiled her pets and grandchildren. She could talk and listen for hours... HOURS. It would take her five minutes to make a friend, and within an hour that person was ready to share their most intimate concerns with her.

She took immense pride in the accomplishments of those she loved. She was capable but had no vanity in any of the things she excelled at, and quite frankly never understood why anyone would be impressed by the amazing things she could do.

More than anything Sumara had a great passion for anything that involved family and friends. She has lived on four continents and those who will miss her dearly can be found in every corner of the world.
