Appleton, Frederick Raymond 1937 - 2020 of Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away on November 12, 2020 at Keystone Place at Four Mile Cove, Cape Coral, FL after a two-year battle with Alzheimer's. Fred was born on December 27, 1937 in Lakewood, Ohio to Frederick and Marie Appleton who preceded him in death as did wife Sonnie. He is survived by wife Carole, sister Judy, daughter Lori, sons Charles, Steven, grandsons Shawn (Caitlyn), Justin, Alex, Sam, granddaughter Jennifer and 7 great-grandchildren. Fred grew up in Lakewood, Ohio and graduated with a BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan Tech in 1960 and later received a MBA from St. Thomas University. He also served two years in the Army after graduating from Michigan Tech. Honeywell, Flame Industries and FMC were the stops on Fred's professional career with the last being Alliant Tech. He raised his children in Bloomington, Minnesota with his first wife Judy(Sentz). In Bloomington Fred was active in politics, Transfiguration Lutheran Church and the Bloomington Amateur Hockey Association. He also enjoyed many years with family and friends at the cabin he built on Bay Lake in northern Minnesota. Starting in the 90's Fred lived in Coon Rapids with his beloved wife Sonnie who passed away in 2012. Fred spent the last years of his life in Ft. Myers with his kind, caring wife Carole and was an active member of McGregor Baptist Church, was a volunteer with The Food Pantry and member of the Legacy Singers. There will be a celebration of Fred's life at 11:00am at the McGregor Baptist Church, 3750 Colonial Blvd Ft. Myers Florida on December 14, 2020. Fred will be buried at Fort Snelling Cemetery in the Spring in a private ceremony. In the Memory of Fred's life donations can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
