Osborn, Francis Dean Age 85, of Minnetonka, passed away October 7, 2020. He was born April 22, 1935, in Columbus, Kansas, son of Robert and Elsie Osborn. Francis graduated from Dexter High School in Dexter, Iowa, and served four years in the Navy. He later graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in zoology. For many years he worked as the Plant Operations Specialist for Rieke Carroll Muller Associates in Minnetonka. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charlie, his brother-in-law Kenneth Bricker, and his in-laws, Art and Gladys Johnson. He was a dedicated husband to Naomi and the best dad ever to John Osborn (Kathie Mattox), Katherine (Jeff) Thon, and Jennifer Frisk. He was a proud grandpa to Brandon (Jennifer) Scholes, Andrew (Claire) Rosenfrisk, Christine Frisk, Kelsey (Daniel) Western, and Charlie Thon. He loved nature walks with his great-grandchildren, Emma, Natalya, and Levi Scholes. Francis was a master handyman and avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting, writing, gardening, reading, watching Jeopardy, and simply being surrounded by his family. He will always be in our hearts and prayers, never to be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness or to a charity of the donor's choice. A private celebration of Francis's life will be held in Iowa in July 2021.
