Winker, Frederick E. August 8, 1934-September 19, 2020 Born and raised on a farm in Randall, MN, Fred attended a one-room school. He was President of his Little Falls High School class and active in sports and theater. His football team won the 1951 Championship Game! He earned an engineering degree from the U of M where he was a member of Triangle Fraternity, as were his 5 brothers. Fred worked and lived all over the world, including his first job in the oil fields of Venezuela, and married his wife, Pat in 1961. Having children was no deterrent to travel-adventures, while at Control Data, they lived in many places, including Belgium and South Africa. In 1972, he built a family home in Prior Lake on some farmland. Raising beef cattle, chickens, geese, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses along with his kids, there were lots of at-home adventures, too! He continued to travel for work, affording his family the luxury of visits to Trinidad and Tobago (housing project), The Bahamas (Elizabeth Estates, The Queen came for the dedication!, and later The Atlantis Hotel). He also worked on many buildings in the Twin Cities, including the IDS Center, and one of his favorite projects: Underwater World at the Mall of America. He gave his family the best of all worlds by instilling in them his farm work-ethic, respect for education, dry sense of humor, curiosity, and love of travel and adventure. Unfortunately, most of us did not inherit his quiet demeanor. ; ) In his retirement, he developed the farmland into Winker Park Estates, a beautiful neighborhood with large lots and 160 acres of outlot that will never be built on, giving each family who lives there beautiful views with a nod towards conserving land for nature and enjoyment. He lived a long, productive, adventurous life! The last of his siblings to go, he was preceded in death by many, including his wife, Patty. He is survived by many, including his children, Kevin (Rose), JP (Kori), Mary (John), Katy, Sean (Wanda), Mick, his grandchildren, Colin (Kari), Sam (Dawn), Tess, Emma, Gannon, and his great-grand-children, Karson and Case who all loved him dearly. Per Patty and Fred's wishes, we will be having a Big Party to celebrate their lives, post-pandemic.
