Diane B. Maass

Maass, Diane B. (82) passed away on August 25th surrounded by family under the loving care of her daughter in Plymouth MN. Diane's daughter Debbie was her primary caregiver in her later years. During these precious days they frequented the Arboretum, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, sporting events and ice cream shops. The two were best friends and Debbie's attention to her Mother's care was unwavering. Diane was born in Rochester MN to Lester and Virginia Duncanson. She was a member of the Rochester Figure Skating Club, Camp Fire Girls and Job's Daughters. She graduated from Rochester High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She continued her studies at the University of Minnesota and went on to work as a Phlebotomist for Olmstead Community Hospital. Diane and Ed Maass were married at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester. They were blessed with three children Debbie, John and Tom (Julie). The couple co-founded MagneCorp, Inc. and it was a successful business for over 30 years. Diane was an active member of the Golden Valley Women's Club, the Antique Group and University of Minnesota Extension Services. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader for her daughter's troop and volunteered at the Golden Valley Library reading books to children. Diane enjoyed traveling the world. Her favorite spots were Rome, Italy, the island of Santorini, Greece and Japan. Closer to home, she white water rafted the Arkansas River under the Royal Gorge Bridge with her daughter Debbie and her sister Sherry. Diane was an avid sports fan and followed collegiate and professional sports. Her favorite teams were the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, Chicago Cubs and the Golden Gophers Football team. Diane is survived by her children, sister Sherry Huyber (John), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her former husband. She was preceded in death by her parents. Diane will be laid to rest beside her parents in a private graveside Catholic Committal service at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
