Dorothy Bonhiver

Bonhiver, Dorothy of Shoreview, personified grace, charm, and kindness, passed away at the age of 91 on August 14, 2020 after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer. Preceded in death by parents, Gertina & Charles Knoder; sister, Betty Bergh; & husbands, Robert Morstad & Homer Bonhiver. She will be deeply missed by her children, Greg Morstad, Grant (Carolyn) Morstad, & Gayle (Greg Cardinal) Morstad; step-children, David Church, Judy Bonhiver, Thomas (Susan) Bonhiver, Dan (Melane Ford) Bonhiver & Nanette (Kent) Malcomson; 2 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 12 step great-grandchildren; 1 nephew; and 2 nieces. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, she was surrounded by family and friends through word and prayer. Dorothy's great love for family, friends, her religious beliefs, community, and travel defined her as a person. Her love for travel took her to all 50 states and approximately 31 foreign countries. Her most memorable was Papua, New Guinea. Born during the depression and growing up during WWII as a city gal in south Mpls, life was not "ordinary". Dorothy spent her summer vacations during the war helping on her grandmother's South Dakota farm. The family would like to extend their heart filled gratitude to her longtime friends, Elsie & Arlys, AGS Retiree Club, members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Serene Court residences, Dr. Stephen King & his staff, Heartland Hospice Care and Legacy Home Care for all the friendship, support, love, prayers and care you provided our mother throughout her wonderful life. She was truly blessed to have all of you in her life. Private interment Morningside Memorial Gardens. Due to pandemic restrictions, the Memorial Celebration of Life held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Circle Pines MN on August 26th, 2020 will be private but those wishing to attend may do so online at the link below.
