Bruder, Robert Olaf Age 91, of Bloomington, Minnesota went to heaven on August 9, 2020. Bob was born Sept. 7 1928 to Fischer and Hazel Bruder in Minneapolis. He often spoke of the generosity of his parents who gave what they had to help others in need. He was active at the Pillsbury House Community Center. He graduated from South High School in 1947 and then attended Augsburg College. On May 5th, 1951 Bob married the love of his life Barb. Bob served in the Army Infantry from 1950 - 1952 during the Korean War at the replacement depot in Sasebo, Japan. Upon his return from service Bob worked as an accountant for the Soo Line Railroad Company for 33 years. Bob and Barb enjoyed over 69 years of marriage and took great joy in raising their 4 children. They also cared for many foster children. Bob lived a life of faith and joy. For more than 60 years he was an active member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church. He and Barb enjoyed Square Dancing with the Bloomington Swirlers for 40 years. Bob played Bocce Ball with the Born Again Jocks. He was a long-time volunteer at Loaves and Fishes. Bob and Barb enjoyed travel, esp. trips to Hawaii and Denmark. Bob was a family historian and traced his genealogy back to the 1600's. For almost 20 years Bob enjoyed his daily walks at Home Depot where he made many friends. Bob became a grandpa in 1987 and had 7 treasured grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Hartley, Earl, John, sister Marcella and their spouses, and son-in-law Ron Crumrine. Bob is survived by his loving wife Barb, children Karen Bruder (Lynn Poore), Tom Bruder, Merrilee Crumrine and Heidi (Steve) Mathers, his seven grandchildren and their significant others. He is also survived by sister Harriet (Ron) Holtmeier and his much beloved nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Martin Luther Manor for their kindness and care of Bob the past two years. Private Memorial service was held on 8/15.
