Damkroger, Bonnie Jean Beloungy age 90, died peacefully in her Bloomington home with her daughter at her side on July 23, 2020. Bonnie was born in Freeport, Long Island, NY to Bonstelle and James J. Beloungy. Her father's career in radio at NBC and CBS took the family from New York to Charlotte, Chicago, and Minneapolis. Bonnie graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1952, and is reported to have been the first Little Sister of the SAE fraternity. She married Paul B. Damkroger August 27, 1954. While primarily a homemaker, Bonnie's tireless energy was spent modeling in college and after, participating in the Delta Gamma alumni activities, working in employee recruitment, volunteering with WAMSO (Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra), and at Breck School. In her 50s, Bonnie became a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines and made a multitude of new friends across the country. When Bonnie was 10, she and her father travelled by train to the Michigan North Woods Club (MNWC) in the Upper Peninsula. The Beloungy family joined the following year. The MNWC was at the center of Bonnie's lifesummers, winter holidays and long weekends were spent at her cabin in the woods. Aptly named, Bonnie was sunny, friendly, outgoing and fun. She had a touch of mischief as well. Upon learning that a friend planned to hold a wedding shower for a well-known lyricist, Bonnie borrowed uniforms from Interlachen Country Club and crashed the party with a friend, playing the part of servers. That escapade led to an invitation for a small part in the movie Foolin' Around. Bonnie had more friends than one could count, and made them wherever she went. She loved and excelled in tennis, the piano, clothing design and entertaining. Bonnie is predeceased by her husband, parents, and brother James L. Beloungy. She is survived by her daughter Courtney A. Damkroger (Roger J. Hansen), grandchildren Katherine and Walter Hansen, sister-in-law Marie McHarry, and beloved dog Kiara. A memorial will be held at a future date.
